Inspirations For Contract
The Twilight Zone (1959 – 1964)
Notable Features: Narrative
The Twilight Zone was a late 1950’s – early 60’s TV Series of a Supernatural and Fantasy nature. It ran for 5 Seasons. Its opening narration changed slightly every Season. In Season 3, it was, “You are traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land of imagination. Next stop, the Twilight Zone!”
The narrative of each episode followed the lives of ordinary people who were suddenly and mysteriously put into extraordinary situations and contexts. They would go on an adventure and have many highs and lows; ultimately the ending played out that the guilty were punished. There was always a moral or something to think about at the end of each episode.
I took this Series as Inspiration for our Major Project Film, Contract because our film also follows the life of an ordinary man who is suddenly put into an unconventional and extraordinary situation, which he has to figure out the meaning of.
